I’m interested in the power of media to tell stories. I write songs and I make films. I record music, mostly my own these days, but have produced and engineered many recordings for all kinds of artists over the course of my career.
I also work in academia where I manage the media preservation program for the largest academic library in the world. There too, storytelling is the center of the work, whether it is the work to preserve one of the most comprehensive and significant collections of Carnatic music recordings in the world today, or the first known recording of John F. Kennedy, or the raw source interviews of the Act Up Oral History Project.
I am a member of the Audio Engineering Society where I co-chair the SC-07 Subcommittee on metadata, and the TC on Archives, Restoration and Digital Libraries and I am a member of the AES Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
Here is a list of some of my public speaking on media preservation related topics.
